Pride Month: Supporting LGBTQ+ Family Building

A significant portion of the US population, around 5%, identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Awareness of the social, emotional, and mental health challenges accompanying self-identification as lesbian, gay, trans, bisexual, or queer is increasing. However, it’s crucial for those outside the community to recognize how this impacts individuals’ paths to creating families.

For many LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, fertility assistance is essential. Discussions about donors (egg and sperm) and surrogates (also known as gestational carriers) are common, as are decisions about known versus anonymous donors.

Educating ourselves about these concepts is vital for supporting, empathizing with our LGBTQ+ peers, and being an ally. Family building is a pivotal aspect of many people’s lives, and understanding these complexities can provide better insight into the experiences of our loved ones, friends, classmates, or colleagues.

We take pride in supporting the LGBTQ+ community, offering a safe space to discuss family building goals. Additionally, we’re dedicated supporters of our local LGBTQ+ Center of OC in their efforts to uplift and empower the Orange County community.
